Housesitting was a creative solution to ride the waves through a transitional time, and now I bought myself flowers to celebrate landing in an apartment of my own!!

18 housesits in 18 months. 30 cats. Four dogs. One hamster. One raccoon. And some squirrels too. The longest was five months and the shortest was two nights. I once was beat out for a sit by a sitter who had 57 5-star reviews and had won “Trusted Housesitter of the Year”.

In terms of location, my housesits spanned through 9 countries and 20 cities (some where stopovers). As someone who has been work from home, self employed with my own brand design business since 2005, traveling via house sitting to “take the show on the road” (ie my laptop and sketchbook) was a natural next step to expand my horizons.

Housesitting in different areas all over the world sparked my creativity in a whole new way which will be with me forever and brings fresh ideas and experience to my work.

All of this coincided with what was happening for me on a personal level as well: After leaving an unhealthy relationship, traveling and housesitting helped me create a new life for myself. The truly kind home owners that I house and pet sat for restored my faith in reciprocity, and their furry friends were so loving as I was to them.

By housesitting alone in different locations around the world during what began as a time when I couldn’t envision living anywhere but the past, I became a much more confident woman and have learned what’s possible in a home as well as which environments add to my sense of overall well-being.

After all of the housesitting and travel both my business and I are healthier than ever. In the last months of 2023, I finally knew what I wanted in my next home and environment, so I set up house sits to try out the area that I have now chosen because I love and feel in my bones that I am meant to be here at this time in my life.

Once I rebuild my financial foundation and settle fully into my new home base here in St. Pete, FL, I’m so excited to continue traveling from time to time because being a traveler is simply part of who I am.

Wild blessings,
